About Saint Laurent
The Yves Saint Laurent couture house was created in Paris on 4 December 1961, and its monogram was designed by Cassandre the same year (Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris). Pierre Bergé was its co-founder (Business of Fashion). The first collection was shown in January 1962, the Rive Gauche ready-to-wear line followed in 1966, and in 1999 the house was sold to the Pinault-Printemps-Redoute group (Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris). Hedi Slimane became creative director in 2012, when the house changed its name to Saint Laurent Paris (FashionNetwork). Anthony Vaccarello succeeded him in 2016 (Reuters via Devdiscourse). Kering announced his departure on 9 October 2026 and did not name a successor (Reuters via Devdiscourse).
Slimane introduced the Sac de Jour in 2013, a tote with a structured frame (Marie Claire).
For pre-owned buyers, Rebag’s 2025 Clair Report put the Icarino at 74% value retention (Rebag, The 2025 Clair Report). Fashionphile’s 2026 report listed the Mombasa among its archival revivals, with its average sale price up 291% and the number sold tripled (Fashionphile). The RealReal’s 2026 report placed Saint Laurent among its ten most searched brands (FashionUnited). On authentication, Fashionphile notes that counterfeit Icare tags often show heavy, messy debossing, and that engraved letters on fake hardware may sit too close together (Fashionphile).
