The story of the Puzzle Edge
The Puzzle was the first bag Jonathan Anderson designed for Loewe after becoming creative director in 2013 (V&A). It was released in 2015 (V&A), and a fuchsia, coral and salmon Puzzle opened his autumn/winter 2015 women’s show (W Magazine). Anderson described the aim as “deconstructing a conventional bag to create a flat object with a tridimensional function” (W Magazine). The bag folds completely flat (W Magazine). The classic model is made in Madrid from 75 pieces of leather, in nine hours and more than 500 separate actions (Harper’s Bazaar Malaysia). Elle called it “the industry’s favourite handbag”, and the V&A holds a 2017 limited edition printed with William Morris’s Strawberry Thief, given by the Loewe Foundation (V&A). In 2025 Loewe marked ten years with the Puzzle 10 collection of 19 re-editions (W Magazine). When buying pre-owned, look closely at the edges and vertices, which are painted by hand (W Magazine). Confirm the leather against the listing.
