About Dior

Christian Dior founded his couture house at 30 avenue Montaigne, Paris, in 1946 (Christian Dior SE) and showed his first collection on 12 February 1947 (LVMH). Carmel Snow, editor of American Harper’s Bazaar, christened it the New Look. Dior’s death in 1957 closed that first chapter (V&A). Jonathan Anderson presented his first Dior collection for Spring/Summer 2026 (Marie Claire).

The Lady Dior began as a 1994 design by Gianfranco Ferré called Chouchou. In September 1995 Bernadette Chirac gave one to Diana, Princess of Wales, at a Cézanne exhibition in Paris, and the bag later took her name (Grazia). Its cannage quilting was inspired by the Napoleon III chairs used at Christian Dior’s first show in 1947 (Grazia). The Saddle appeared in John Galliano’s Spring/Summer 2000 collection (AnOther) and returned under Maria Grazia Chiuri for Autumn/Winter 2018 (i-D). Luxe Charts follows the Lady Dior Medium, the Saddle and the Book Tote Medium.

Dior does not appear in The RealReal’s 2026 list of the ten most searched brands (FashionUnited). Individual models fare better. Fashionphile ranked the Lady Dior sixth among its top-shopped bags of 2025 (Fashionphile) and ninth in 2026, a year in which it also recorded rising searches for the Book Tote (Fashionphile). Reissues move the market: The RealReal reported a sharp rise in Saddle resale values in 2018, the year the bag returned (Forbes).
