Fendi bags price history

Fendi was established in Rome in 1925 by Adele and Edoardo Fendi, beginning with a handbag shop and a fur workshop (Fendi). Its first boutique was on via del Plebiscito (LVMH). The five Fendi sisters began working with Karl Lagerfeld in 1965, a collaboration that lasted 54 years, and LVMH became majority shareholder in 2001 (Fendi). Kim Jones presented his first womenswear collection for Fendi in February 2021 (LVMH) and stepped down in October 2024 (W Magazine). In October 2025 Maria Grazia Chiuri was named chief creative officer, after Silvia Venturini Fendi, granddaughter of the founders, became honorary president (W Magazine).

The Baguette appeared in 1997, designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi and named after the French loaf it resembles (Marie Claire). Chiuri, who joined Fendi in 1989 as an accessories designer, helped develop it (W Magazine). The Peekaboo followed at the Spring 2009 show, with two halves divided by a rigid centre and a flap that folds down to reveal it (The Week). The By The Way remains a current line (Fendi), and the First was a highlight of that first Jones collection (LVMH).

Rebag’s 2023 Clair Report placed Fendi in its “safe bets” zone at 57% average value retention, with the Baguette at 113% (Rebag). Fashionphile’s 2026 report named the Baguette and the Hermès Birkin joint winners as its most hunted handbag, and Fendi rose in its rankings of brands bought and sold (Fashionphile).
