Saint Laurent Kate sizes

The Kate is a slim flap bag on a chain, fronted by the interlocking YSL logo and sold with or without a gold tassel (PurseBlog, Fashionphile). The logo was drawn in 1961 by the artist Adolphe Mouron, known as Cassandre (Fellows, PurseBlog). Hedi Slimane became creative director in 2012 and renamed the ready-to-wear line Saint Laurent Paris (Fellows, Dazed), from spring-summer 2013, while the YSL logo stayed on the products (FashionNetwork). Fellows, the British auction house, writes that the Cassandre Monogram line rose to prominence during Slimane’s tenure, and names the Kate, the Loulou and the Envelope as instant hits, appreciated for their versatility, elegance and recognisability (Fellows). Pre-owned listings cover a wide family: Fashionphile’s guide lists a belt bag and a chain wallet as well as the shoulder bag, in Micro, Small, New Small and Medium sizes (Fashionphile). The original Small was replaced by a larger one (Handbagholic), so measure before comparing prices: the current Small is about 20 by 12.5 by 5 cm (Handbagholic). The serial number sits on a leather tab inside (Handbagholic). The YSL closure should have sharp letter edges and close with a firm click (Fashionica), and on tasselled versions the tassel should be present, since the model is sold both ways (PurseBlog).
