Luxury bags with the biggest boutique price rises, and what that means pre-owned

A short answer first. Luxe Charts does not record what pre-owned bags sell for, so this guide does not rank bags by resale value, and no honest guide can do that from boutique prices alone. What our price history does show is how the price new in the boutique has moved, model by model, with the date and source of every check. That price is the reference every pre-owned asking price is measured against, so a bag whose boutique price has risen fast changes the sums for anyone buying it second hand.

How to read the numbers

Every figure here is a boutique price published by the brand on its own website, in euro. A change “since 2020” compares the first price we checked in 2020 with the most recent one. Some histories start earlier, some later, depending on how far back the archived copies of the official pages go, so a rise since 2014 and a rise since 2022 cannot be compared with each other. This guide keeps them in separate groups. Each model page shows the full staircase of prices, with a lighter line for the months we did not check.

Since 2020: Prada and Chanel lead

On the like-for-like measure since 2020, the Prada Galleria Medium shows the biggest rise of all the models we follow: up 93%, to €3,850 today. The next five places all go to Chanel. First the Classic Flap Small, up 84%, from €5,500 to €10,100, then the Classic Flap Medium at 74%. The 2.55 in its large size and the Classic Flap Jumbo follow, both up 71%, from €6,600 to €11,300, and the Classic Flap Maxi closes the group at 68%.

Other bags with a price checked in 2020 rose less. The Prada Cleo went from €1,600 to €2,600, up 63%. The Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandoulière 25 went from €1,060 to €1,650, up 56%, and the Pochette Métis from €1,500 to €2,300, up 53%. The two Classic Flap Minis, the Square Mini and the Rectangular Mini, rose 45% and 44%. The Celine Ava in Triomphe canvas went from €980 to €1,400, up 43%. The Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM went from €1,120 to €1,550, up 38%, the Gucci Horsebit 1955 shoulder bag from €2,200 to €2,980, up 35%, and the Celine 16 Classique from €3,200 to €4,000, up 25%.

Ten of these bags are compared side by side, with the date of each price, in the report Luxury bag price increases since 2020.

Longer histories: Louis Vuitton since 2014, Prada since 2019

For a few bags the archived copies go back further. The Neverfull MM cost €855 in July 2014 and is up 81% since then; the Speedy Bandoulière 25 cost €935 in October 2014 and is up 76%. Most of that came late. The Speedy rose 9% between October 2014 and July 2019, when it cost €1,020, and a further 62% after that. The Neverfull rose 16% up to December 2018, then 57%, from €990 to €1,550. The Louis Vuitton price increase report sets out every step.

At Prada the Galleria history starts in 2019: the Medium is up 120% from €1,750 and the Small up 115% from €1,650, to €3,550. The Gucci Horsebit 1955 is up 51% since 2019, from €1,980, with its last change in June 2024. At Celine the Triomphe Teen is up 42% and the Triomphe Medium 33% since 2019, to €3,400 and €3,600.

Shorter histories: Bottega Veneta and the Prada nylon

Some histories begin in 2021 or 2022, and the rises over those few years are still large. The Bottega Veneta Mini Jodie went from €1,500 to €2,500, up 67% since 2021, and the Teen Jodie is up 59% since 2022, to €3,500. The Prada Re-Edition 2000 Mini went from €590 to €980, up 66% since 2021.

Bags with little or no change on record

A flat line does not always mean a flat price; often it means a short record. The Dior Lady Dior Medium, at €5,900, shows no change in the checks we have. The Dior Saddle and the Book Tote Medium are up 2% since 2024, the Louis Vuitton Alma BB 6% since 2024. The Gucci Jackie 1961 Small and the GG Marmont Small show no change in the checks we have. For Loewe the record starts with the prices we checked on 18 October 2026, so there is no history yet to compare.

What a rising boutique price means for a pre-owned buyer

A boutique rise moves the reference, not the asking price. When the Classic Flap Small cost €5,500, a pre-owned Small was set against €5,500; today it is set against €10,100. That is why the comparison that matters is always with today’s boutique price for the same model, size and material, never with a figure remembered from a few years ago.

A boutique rise also says nothing on its own about what a used bag sells for. An asking price is what a seller asks, and we do not know the price a bag finally sells for. That is why Luxe Charts never calls a figure a “value”. Where a model page shows listings, it compares each one with a typical price worked out from the delivered prices of comparable listings of the same model and size, and only when there are at least 8 of them. The Method explains how.

Two more cautions. A rise in percent depends on the starting year: the Speedy is up 76% since 2014 and 56% since 2020, and both are true. And a rise belongs to one version of a bag: the same model in another size or material can have another price and another history, so check that the version on the model page is the one in the listing.

Where to go from here

Each bag above links to its model page, with the full history, the countries where the price applies and the checks to make before buying. The brand pages gather the models by house: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Dior, Celine, Bottega Veneta and Loewe.
