The story of the Amazona 180

The Amazona first appeared in 1975, designed with working women in mind (V Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar Singapore). Loewe itself describes it as first released in the 1970s as a symbol of modern practicality and freedom (Loewe). The name refers to the female warriors of Greek mythology (V Magazine, PurseBlog). It is a top-handle bag with a padlock engraved with the Anagram (Loewe). Jonathan Anderson relaunched it for autumn/winter 2021, the house’s 175th anniversary (Harper’s Bazaar Singapore). That version came in two sizes, the 19 Square and the 28, in leather or an Anagram cotton canvas blend (V Magazine). It had a working padlock, metal feet, zipped compartments for electronic devices and a removable, adjustable strap (V Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar Singapore). For spring 2026, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez reworked it for their first collection as the Amazona 180 (Marie Claire, PurseBlog). It has a relaxed silhouette and is designed to be carried open (Loewe). It has a single toron top handle, a concealed closure and a lining of suede and nappa lambskin (Loewe). Pre-owned listings therefore cover three distinct generations. Check which one is offered, and on structured examples confirm that the padlock and metal feet are present (V Magazine, PurseBlog).
